Olefins
SASO Chemicals produces a wide range of chemical co-products while producing Ethylene. Ethylene is the building block used by SASO Chemicals to produce Polyethylene. SASO also supports our 3rd Party Ethylene customers to produce other Ethylene derivatives including Styrene Monomer, Mono-Ethylene Glycol, Ethylene Vinyl Acetate, Ethylene Di-Chloride, and PVC.
Products
Ethylene
SASO Chemicals produces approximately 8 billion pounds of ethylene each year at production facilities across Canada and the United States. Ethylene is a hydrocarbon gas that is used as a building block to produce polyethylene, ethylene oxide, PVC, styrene, and various other chemical applications.
Propylene (Refinery, Chemical, and Polymer Grades)
SASO Chemicals provides RGP, CGP, and PGP grades of propylene to the chemicals industry. PGP and CGP are primarily used to produce Polypropylene and other Propylene derivatives while RGP is used to produce Gasoline Alkylates and as feed for CGP and PGP splitters.
Crude Butadiene
Crude Butadiene is produced at all of SASO kers and contains ~70% 1-3 Butadiene. These volumes are shipped to customers via Pipeline, Rail Cars, and Marine barges. 1-3 BD is used to produce durable products including synthetic rubber (tires and hoses), ABS, and solvents.
Debutanized Aromatic Concentrate (DAC)
Debutanized Aromatic Concentrate (aka DAC, AC-1, or Pygas) is a blend of Benzene, Toluene, Xylenes, and other gasoline components ranging from C5’s through C9’s.
